Though it seems to be a hard task their music sounds with such freshness like a clear brook in the Transylvanian mountains.

Hungarian Jazz Quartet

Hungarian Jazz Quartet was formed by the four famous jazz icons twenty-five years ago. They have their jubilee concert tour in 2011. All the members of the group are also famous as solo musicians and have been awarded with several national and international prizes including Kossuth and Liszt Prizes. During their concerts they always find the way to the audience by their energetic free-style and improvisative music.

Norbert Farkas Quartet

Michael Erian (tenor saxophone) graduated in 1991 at Kartner Landeskonservatorium in Austria and he has been teaching there since 2002. He participated on CD-s by Jimmy Cobb, Klemens Marktl, Aladár Pege, Renato Chicco and Lee Harper, but also has his own projects like: Couch Ensemble, Radio Erian, Alpen Adria Jazz Ensemble and Johnson 3. Rob Bargad (piano) was born in Boston, after his studies he played music together with Kenny Barron for three years, then he accompanied on piano such legendary musicians as Little Jimmy Scott and Dakota Staton. As a member of the Nat Adderley Quintet he travelled the whole world and in the meantime he recorded 8 CD-s. The talented local musician Farkas Norbert was the student of Barcza Horváth József at Egressy Béni Music High School where he studied classical jazz and jazz-bass music. In 2009 he joined the Graz Academy of Arts in Austria and he attends a course by Wayne Darling. He participated in Budapest MOL Jazz Festival, Cserfő JazzLand, the Debrecen Jazz Days and the Osijek Jazz Festival in Croatia. He also took part in the Montenegro Workshop by Stjepko Gut. He played together in concerts among others with Andy Haderer, Donny McCaslin and Don Menza. For the time being Oleg Markov (drums) is a student at he Graz Academy of Arts and he attends the lectures by Howard Curtis. He already participated in concerts together with The Kiev Big Band in the Ukraine, with Curtis Fuller, Frank Lacey, Jim Rotondi and Don Menza. he also took part in Stjepko Gut's workshop in Montenegro.

Maskura and the Swarm of Crickets (Maszkura és a Tücsökraj)

The band was formed in February 2007 with the participation of four young musicians led by the talented composer, singer and accordion player called Maszkura. He began his musical career in his native town Marosvásárhely (Tirgu Mures) and he moved to Budapest in 2005. Their first CD entitled "Shameless" appeared in 2009. Their music is a kind of alternative pop music brilliantly mixed with elements of funky, Latin music, Rhythm and Blues, swing and csardas. Their concerts sound unique with the lyrics and the brilliant accordion playing by Maszkura.

Vámos Janka Quartet

A zenekar 2010 őszén alakult Bartók-konzervatóriumos, illetve jazz-tanszakos hallgatókból. Repertoárukban jazz-standardeken kívül megjelennek a popzene ismert slágerei is, ezáltal közelebb hozva a közönséget zenéjükhöz.

Gayer Mátyás Trió

Gayer Mátyás aged 19 began studying jazz from Tiborcz Iván and later it was Binder Károly who became his teacher of jazz. Gayer Mátyás regularly performed in various jazz formations led by Tiborcz Iván and then he played in bands like Jazzlectic, the Borbély Miklós- Fenyvesi Márton Quintet, or the Andreas Varady Quartet and the Molnár Sándor Quintet. He also played together woth Hodek Dávid, Arnie Somogyi and Eddie Luis. He participated in jazz concerts in England, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria. He won several first prizes at different jazz festivals and competitions for talented young musicians. For example, he won the 'Golden Ten' first prize with Jazzlectic and he was awarded a scholarship of Berklee College of Music in Perugia, Italy. In May 2011 he won the first prize at the Balogh "Csibe" ("Chick") Jenő Jazz Piano Competition for Talented Young Musicians.

East Gipsy Band

This formation consisting of excellent jazzmen is a new initiative for alloying jazz music with gipsy musical traditions. Balázs József won the prize for the best soloist at Cracow Jazz Juniors Competition in Poland. Bolla Gábor (tenor saxophone) is an outstanding musician with rich experiences in the international jazz life. Sárközi Lajos won the nation-wide jazz violin competition of the Hungarian Radio at the age of fifteen. Oláh Vilmos is an outstanding cimbalom player. Balogh Gusztáv is a perfect musician, too, who is the leader of Nomada and regularly performs as a guest musician in several jazzbands all over Europe. Pecek Lakatos Krisztián aged 21 is an energetic and very talented musician who owns the recognition of jazz experts. Balázs Elemér - a perfect composer and drummer - has been a leading artistic personality for fifteen years on the jazz scene of Hungary.

Tony Lakatos and Snétberger Ferenc

Snétberger Ferenc is one of the most talented and most important jazz and classical guitar virtuoso considering contemporary music. He was awarded the Liszt Prize for his brilliant musical career which attracts great audiences in the concert halls all over the world. He successfully alloys Gipsy folklor traditions with improvisative tunes and melodies of flamenco, Brazilian folkmusic, classical music and jazz. He appeared on stage together with world-famous musicians like Arild Andersen and Paolo Vinaccia, Bobby McFerrin, Richard Bona, Markus Stockhausen and Paolo Fersu.

Tony Lakatos is a world-famous saxophone virtuoso who was also awarded with Liszt Prize for his successful musical career. Tony Lakatos has been a constant member of Radio Hamburg Big Band since 1999 He is not only a very sought-after sideman performing together with Al Foster, Jasper van't Hof and Wolfgang Haffner, but he also reached top positions with his own albums entitled "Recycling" and "The News" on US-Jazz-Radio. The world-famous duo travels for concert tours to Japan almost every year and it's Tokyo where their joint CD "Acoustic Worlds" has been recorded live at Musashino Civic Cultural Hall. While playing in duo Snétberger and Lakatos always open a magic-box during their concerts and the audience will always be enchanted by the splendid musical ideas and the vibrantly elegant melodies of these two brilliant artists of contemporary jazz music.

Iván Tiborcz and His Friends

Tiborcz Iván has been the most important representative of jazz life in Nagykanizsa for several decades. He's the founder and organizer of a very successful summer jazz festival called JazzLand. After returning home from the USA he lured a lot of young musicians into the world of jazz. Sinkovits László, Kém Sándor junior, Gayer Mátyás, Farkas Norbert, Simon Balázs and many others began their musical career in the occasional rehearsal room of Cserfő jazz pub. Tiborcz Iván has been playing for several jazzbands from the 1990's but he formed his recent trio two years ago. Tiborcz Iván is fifty now and for this occasion his birthday concert will be joined by his brother Tiborcz Dénes who is also an outstanding jazz musician living in Germany. As the closing concert of the festival this will surely be a fantastic "JazzLand-like" jam-session experience for all jazz fans while listening to the improvisations and the vibrant atmosphere created on the stage by Tiborcz Iván and His Friends.
